The Makings of a Good Night

Every once in awhile when we run out of ideas or are just plain bored with our usual dinners, J and I have "tapas for dinner".  Basically all this means is we get a bottle of wine and a few odds and ends that may count as an appetizer of some sort and make a meal out of it.  It gives us an excuse to drink and we get dinner out of the deal.
This is what we had tonight:

  • A couple of types of meat (salami, pepperoni, whatever works)
  • Crackers/bread (we had pretzels and cut up slices of Naan)
  • Hummus (we are piggies and had 2 different types on hand)
  • Cheese (feta is our fave)
  • Olives
  • And if you are feeling particularly health conscious (which clearly we were not), serve with veggies like carrots, bell peppers or cucumber slices
Then basically you turn your table into a buffett and voila, a simple and delicious dinner!

We also have been trying to make en effort to turn off the TV and spend more time together.  Sometimes we read, sometimes we play games.  This all started last year during Lent and is something we are attempting to make a part of our normal routine.

Last night we played scrabble.  J is rediculously good and it's kind of annoying.  Regardless, sometimes it's nice to have some quiet time.

I'm not going to lie, I don't know what some of these words even mean...

Valentines Day!!

This is what Valentine's Day look like for a girl:
(thanks my love!)
And THIS is apparently the ideal gift for the man in your life:
(It's only taken 5 years to find a gift that J was truly ecstatic over)

Who knew??  HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Match Day

Today we found out that J matched at his first choice residency program.....

WE'RE MOVING TO PHILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so proud of J.  He has worked so hard to get here and I can't believe he will be graduating from medical school in just a couple of months.  My family is ecstatic that we will be moving back to the east coast (let alone a half hour away from everyone).  What a sweet sweet day :)

Little People in the Bridal Party

My niece was our flower girl and she stole the show.  Her brother, Braydon, was our ring bearer and the two of them dressed up was so precious.  They were both under the weather but did a good job regardless and were so adorable.  The plan was to have them walk down the aisle holding hands.  I think they made it 1/4 of the way down before Braydon made the ugly face and burst into tears!  It was so funny.

Getting ready with Bridesmaid Lindsay

My mini me

She was clearly loving the attention.  And how handsome is Braydon?!

We were warned by the wedding coordinator at the church that at 22 months and 3 1/2 they really are too young to be in the wedding.  We said we wanted them to be a part of it anyways because they are a big part of our life.  Even though it was a little rocky getting them down the aisle, we don't regret it.  We wanted them to be a part of our special day and all things considered, they did a great job!

So moral of the story: it's your day, do what you want.
