Crap My Husband Likes

Husbands are weird.  Sometimes they make dumb suggestions that you would never willingly do/wear/try but you indulge them anyways.  Which brings me to to the following list titled "Stupid Ish My Husband Thinks is Bomb but Really Isn't Terribly Exciting and/or Fun"

#1)  Buffalo Wing Wings - Not exactly my idea of a date night.  While I realize there are boneless options, this is what I picture when I think of buffalo wings:

nom nom nom

#2)  Sierra Gold (AKA Sierra Titties) - I think this is unique to Nevada?  It's a bar/restaurant that is unfortunately located just a short drive from our home.  There's really nothing special or unique about this place, other than the servers are forced to wear these awful lace up leather vests with nothing on underneath...which would be hot if they weren't pushing 40 and exposing their c-section scars and tramp stamp of their child's footprints (true story!)

This is what they wear:

And this is what they actually look like:

(I kid....we live in a city of beautiful and highly processed people, I have to make fun when I can:)

#3)  Retro Fashion a la Mad Men

Ok I get it, the women on Mad Men are gorgeous.  The retro thing is hot right now even Banana Republic had a Man Med collection last fall, but if you think I am going to dress myself like June Cleaver and run my errands in heels YOU. IS. CRAY.

But wait, I think I have uncovered the REAL reason why my husband digs the whole Mad Men thing.  This chick right here:

So really what more is there to say?!?

Products I Lovvvvve

Biosilk

This crap makes your hair silky smooth.  After using only Moroccan Oil products for the past 3 years, I noticed my hair had gotten really dry and despite frequent trims, my split ends were out of control.  I discussed this with my stylist and she said as much as she likes Moroccan Oil, it does dry your hair out after awhile and seems to stop working.  I had heard good reviews of Biosilk so I decided to give it a try.  While I can't say I love the smell, it works wonders on my frizzy naturally curly hair and THAT is why it is a must have.

Goldwell Rich Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

When I switched to Biosilk, I also changed my shampoo and conditioner.  I choose this because my stylist uses it and it smells soooo good.  SO GOOD.  It moisturizes without making my hair greasy and I can now go 3 days between washes if I need to.  It's amazing.

Exuviance Ultra Restorative Cream

This face cream is my newest obsession.  Living in the desert, my skin is DRY.  I've tried every moisturizer known to man from drug stores to department store and designer brands.  There are several that I have liked, but this is by far the absolute best.  Here's why: it is designed as a night cream but I use it twice a day and have had no problems.  It's creamy and thick, absorbs quickly, and a little goes a long way so I'm thinking one tube will last for months.  It's a little on the pricey end ($45), but WELL worth it.

Body Shop Body Butter in Brazil Nut

This body lotion has been my favorite for years.  I don't use it all the time and tend to only stock up when the Body Shop is having a sale, but it is so smooth and luxurious.  I like the subtle natural scent and it seems to be more moisturizing than some of their other body butter scents (is that possible?!)  I love it.

Blue Diamonds

Last week may have been the longest work week of my life.  As a nurse, I'm used to running my bum off and working hard.  Last week was the exception to the rule.  I had the easiest assignment known to man ALL. THREE. NIGHTS.  Needless to say, I had some time on my hands to do mindless things like shop online and read magazines (I can't believe I am actually admitting that.  I was THAT nurse.)

Which brings me to my latest obsession.  Blue diamonds.  I was clicking away on my Etsy app "window shopping".  Anyone with an iPhone NEEDS to download that app right now.  Best waste of time ever (aside from Pinterest that is...)  So I stumbled upon a vendor on Etsy that makes his own jewelry.  His work is STUNNING and I decided that although we have only been married a few months, I may just need an anniversary ring stat.

Blue diamonds come in a variety of shades and are simply gorgeous.

So here's what I found and can't stop thinking about:

I am LOVING the rose gold

And if that didn't put you over the edge, let me share my very favorite blue diamond ring that WILL BE MINE (....when I have an extra $7000 laying around burning a hole in my pocket...)

I Wannnnnnt That!

Do you ever see something trendy and say "I would never wear that"?  Generally speaking, I am not one to jump on a trend right away.  It takes me a little while to get comfortable with something new, and really I'm just not that ballsy.

I do, however, occasionally change my mind.  For example:

Rompers -  I thought they were so weird looking and child-like but recently I've seen a couple that are inexpensive and adorable.

Skinny Jeans - I took a long time to buy into the skinny jean phenomenon.  I still don't think they are terribly flattering, but they have definitely grown on me.  They are versatile and work well with boots, heels, flats - whatever.  I'm particularly loving bright colored skinnys, here are some fun options:

High-Low Tops - I am still coming around on this trend.  As a tall girl (I'm 5'9), shirts are generally short on me to begin with.  Add in the high-low trend and I'm barely covered and/or appropriate.  I have found a couple tops that are a little more subtle but I think I would try.  The jury is still out on high-low dresses (is it just me, or are they weird looking??)

Prep-tastic

The husband and I are both painfully preppy.  I spent my teen years in denim skirts and Abercrombie T-Shirts.  I discovered my love of pearls in college, and I still collect Vera Bradley accessories (and may or may not bring a Vera Bradley lunchbox with me to work every day....)  Consequently, I obsessed over Dawson's Creek and wore a lot of Tommy Girl.  Oh how I miss the late 90's...

My husband loves Ralph Lauren and has polos in nearly every color.  It's funny how he is so masculine and I'm a girly-girl, yet our styles are surprisingly similar.

I love masculine and feminine versions of the same preppy style.  Sperry's, for example, come in adorable His and Hers options:

And I love both the male and female prepster/boarding school look:

(ok, this is a bit extreme, but how pretty are they?!?)

So in honor of all things Preppy, here are a few things I am currently lusting over...

Vera Bradley - Accessories
(because when I said I loved this stuff in college, what I really meant was I'm still not over it :)

I wish this was my closet...

And for the record, I would LOVE this adorable apron.  Even if all I would do in it is order take out...

Betsey Johnson - Studs
*these ones are Lauren Conrad but very similar to Betsey Johnson's bow studs

Kate Spade - Everything!

I Look Like A Dude

A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers

Today I found out I look like a man.  I saw that Raven was having a link up on her blog asking people to post pictures of their celebrity look-alike.  My first thought was "how fun!"  I quickly uploaded a photo onto http://celebrity.picadilo.com/ and anxiously awaited my results.

This is the picture I uploaded:

And here are my unfortunate results...

4/5 of my results were men!!!  The sad thing was that this was my second attempt.  The first time I used another picture and was matched with ALL MEN (two of them weren't even caucasian!  What the hell?!)

The Prince Harry reference made me laugh.  What did not make me laugh was Richard Dryfuss being matched with me BOTH TIMES.  #fail
